---------------------------------------------------------

The Charité Medical School Berlin (Humboldt University and Free

(MSc) Programme in International Health.

The postgraduate Masters Programme is a flexible modular degree
programme for full-time or part-time study, consisting of an in-
troductory core course, specialised optional modules and a re-
search project submitted as a thesis. The programme is organised
within the tropEd European Network for Education in Interna-
tional Health, an association of 30 universities in 13 European
countries and collaborating institutions in Africa, Asia and
Latin America. The core course and five optional modules are
presently offered at Charité Medical School. Further optional
modules can be selected from a list of more than 180 courses of-
fered by the tropEd partner institutions.

CHARITÉ MEDICAL SCHOOL BERLIN

The Charité became Humboldt University's Faculty of Medicine in
1829 and is one of the most renowned Medical Schools in Europe.
Humboldt University was founded in 1810 under the name of Frie-
drich-Wilhelms-Universität as a "universitas litterarum" which
would unite teaching and research and strive towards a compre-
hensive humanistic education for its students. Twenty-nine Nobel
laureates have been associated with the university in the course
of their teaching and research careers, contributing to the ex-
cellent academic reputation, which the university continues to
enjoy today. Today some 33,000 students are enrolled at Humboldt
University in more than 220 courses of study in eleven facul-
ties. Almost ten percent of the students come to Berlin from
abroad. The Charité Medical School has recently merged with the
Medical School of the Free University Berlin to form Germany's
