For journalists and media people, this is a rare opportunity to report,
interview and photo document a variety of events that will be the
hallmark of PHA-2. This historic summit is being held nearly 5 years
since the first People's Health Assembly (PHA- 1 Bangladesh, Dec 2000).

For example, health workers from Bangladesh, indigenous communities from
Australia and Guatemala, consumer activists from Malaysia, disaster
affected communities from Asia, survivors of conflicts and wars from
Africa, first hand witnesses and frontline health workers from occupied
territories of Palestine, Iraq etc are expected.

Women's activists and leading medical professionals from all over the
world, academics, researchers, health workers, students, health
activists, anti-war campaigners; representatives from WHO, PAHO and
other UN organizations, bilateral and multi lateral agencies,
International development and humanitarian agencies; and several well
known people from theatre, music, literature and allied themes are
expected to participate.

Colorful events reemphasizing the different facets of health will be in
display.

On 17th of July, hundreds of indigenous people from all over the world
will launch the Millennium Declaration of the Native Peoples of the
World in a colourful ceremony at Parque Arqueológico Pumapungo
(Pumapungo Archeological Park) in Cuenca.

The First Global Health Watch Report (the eagerly awaited Alternative
World Health Report) will be launched during PHA 2. Many of the authors
are expected to be present.
Communication and accommodation facilities will be available for
journalists and media people (high speed internet, phones, fax, video
conferencing etc). Journalists and TV crews who would like to go on a
filed visit before the assembly is requested to reach on 13th / 14th of
July. Journalists who would like to report the event and who would like
to do phone-in interviews etc (off-site) may please write to us.
We look forward to your support, solidarity and active involvement.
