Claudio, as you say " hmmmm "....

WEF is profoundly antidemocratic.

An alternative mission statement which I believe is more accurate might be
as follows:

"The World Economic Forum is an organization devoted to the further
penetration of capitalism and neoliberal policies into all corners of the
world.

Its constituency is 3000 Chief Executive Officers of the world's largest
transnational corporations. The WEF offers these 3000 individuals special
and privileged access to the world's leaders of government thereby
increasing the already colossal power of transnational corporations in world
affairs."

The implications for democratic decision making and for ever increasing
concentration of wealth and power in ever fewer hands are clear to all.

The WEF's annual event in Davos Switzerland has been the focus of enormous
protest by people of the world who are devoted to democracy. There can be no
more flagrant example of the betrayal of democracy than the World Economic
Forum at which decisions are made for everyone on earth with no democratic
mandate whatsoever and with absolutely no accountability.

PHM supporters should know that the violent repression of democratic and
peaceful protest against Davos of the past few years continues. The Swiss
authorities forbade a normal demonstration this year and imposed conditions
on the organizers which were impossible in a democracy to accept.

As a Swiss citizen, I am appalled and ashamed. However, opposition to Davos
and to the plutocracy it promotes continues ever stronger.

Alison
