The panel below took place here, in Quito, Ecuador at the first Foro Social
Americas, July 25-30, 2004 (following the II ASAMBLEA MUNDIAL POR LA DEFENZA DE
SALUD, Quito, Ecuador 19-23 July, 2004).The panel was attended by several

La salud: un derecho humano fundamental

En toda constitución esta estipulado que los habitantes del país en el que esta
ejerce su dominio, tienen derecho a un sistema integral de salud gratuita, pero
yo pregunto ¿se respeta este artículo fundamental de la constitución en la
mayoría de países del mundo? Y en especial los de latino América
 


El día martes 27 de julio en la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS) de la
ciudad de Quito, se realizo el foro titulado “La salud un derecho fundamental
de la humanidad” 

En el cual se trato principal mente sobre la campaña que mantienen las
transnacionales y específicamente Estados Unidos de norte América para
convertir a la salud en un negocio lucrativo para los mismos. 

Mucho tiempo hemos venido luchando para que no se patenten ciertos medicamentos
indispensables para el combate de enfermedades que aquejan a la humanidad,
yendo en contra de los intereses de unos cuantos oligarcas que no buscan el
bienestar de la población del mundo sino el de sus bolsillos. 

Pero, analicemos cual es el afán de patentar algunos de los medicamentos mas
utilizados en el mercado, ¿es acaso solo ganar dinero mientras dura el tiempo
de valides de las patentes como descubrimiento de una nueva medicina? Si este
fuera el objetivo principal, por que después del tiempo de vencimiento de dicha
patente se prohíbe su venta libre (genérico) aduciendo que ya esta comprada la
presentación o hasta la dosis necesaria para el efectivo funcionamiento de esta
medicina, lo que nos demuestra que no se busca la salud sino el dinero en las
grandes farmacéuticas, pero si la salud es un derecho básico de todos ¿porque
no se castigan a los culpables y en ves de disminuir el “Monopolio” de las
medicinas este aumenta cada año?? 

Es porque desde hace mucho tiempo existen “Tratados de Libre Comercio” que
permiten la monopolización de mercados en los países subdesarrollados poniendo
como democracia a la represión cultural y como beneficios para el pueblo los
intereses de unos cuantos, que sin importarle los perjuicios que causan a la
naturaleza por su avaricia siguen explotándola y sangrando sus riquezas
naturales. 

A este paso lo que nos queda es volver al tiempo de nuestros ancestros y
utilizar las plantas curativas que siempre han sido una opción gratuita que nos
dio la madre naturaleza.

In all constitution this stipulated that the inhabitants of the country in which
this exerts its dominion, have right to an integral system of gratuitous health,
but I ask respects east fundamental article of the constitution in most of
countries of the world? And in special those of Latin America...
 
The day Tuesday 27 of July in the Polytechnical University Salesiana (UPS) of
the city of Quito, I attended the forum entitled "the health a fundamental
right of the humanity" In which main focus was the campaign of transnational
companies, and specifically the United States of North America, to turn to the
health a lucrative business for the U.S. 

For a long time we have come fighting so that certain medicines indispensable
for the combat of diseases are not patented that aquejan to the humanity, going
against the interests of a few oligarchs that do not look for the well-being of
the population of the world but for their own pockets. 

But, what is the eagerness to patent some of medicines most used in markets, is
it perhaps only to make money during the time of the validity of the patents
such as in the discovery of a new medicine? If this were the primary target,
why then after the time of this patent its free sale is prohibited (generics),
adducing that or this bought the presentation or the necessary dose for the
effective operation of this medicine? This demonstrates to us that it is not
health that is sought but money for large phamaceuticals. But if the health is
a basic right of all, why are the guilty not punished to the guilty and the
"Monopoly" of medicines not increasingly diminished every year? 

It is because for a long time "Free Trade Agreements" exist that allow the
monopolization of markets in the underdeveloped countries, where cultural
repression is called democracy, and the interests of a few is said to benefit
the people, without concern for the damages that they cause to the environment
nature by its avarice, continuing to bleed its natural wealth. 

To this step which we have left it is to return to the time of our ancestros and
to use the curativas plants that always have been a gratuitous option that gave
to the mother nature us.
