On March 18-19, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria hosted its 7th Board Meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. Two particularly notable events occurred at the meeting.

First, Helene Rossert-Blavier, a Global Fund Board Member representing Developed Country NGOs, was elected as Vice-Chair of the Board. Dr. Rossert directs the French Anti-AIDS NGO AIDES - one of the largest grassroots organizations fighting AIDS in Europe.

This marks the first time a member of the NGO community has held such a high-level position in the Global Fund. Therefore, the appointment of Dr. Rossert offers an unprecedented opportunity for the voices of NGOs to be heard in shaping Global Fund policy. Please take this chance to congratulate her by email at hrossert at aides.org.

Secondly. Dr. Richard Feachem was unanimously re-appointed as the Executive Director of the Global Fund. Under his watch, the Global Fund has approved over $2 billion for projects fighting AIDS, TB and malaria in the developing world.
