Dear Sir/Madam,
Sub: Press Release- Outreach Scholarship-reg
CED is happy to announce its Outreach Scholarship. The Outreach Scholarship is
aimed at linking the documentation effort at CED, to concerned activists and student,
who are debating the development and change scenario and looking to study and
contribute new ideas. This yearning is connected to CED recent pro-active
documentation efforts, which are trying to examine the State of the Art, and articulate
new perspective and directions for the NGO sector, peoples' movements and concerned
political and economic efforts.
The scholarship is therefore meant for
1. social workers/NGO activists in organisations: who want to take sometime
out for studying reading.
2. Students/scholars of social work/development/community media who want to
take time out for field study.
The scholars are expected to do self-study at CED and elsewhere. In the
process of self-study, Scholars are also expected to add to CED
documentation, using the books budget and their electronic downloads and
notes. The detail of the scholarship is attached below.
We would like you to publish this through the esteemed columns of your
newsletter/magazine, for the benefit of people working in the area of
development.
Interested persons may please write to us or email us at
scholars at doccentre.org.
Thanking you
Yours truly,
Sd

About the CED Outreach scholarship
The Centre for Education and Documentation (CED) is an information and
documentation Centre involved in collecting and making available information
developmental issues to students, teachers, activists, social workers and
journalists.
As a proactive documentation Centre, CED is interested in documenting,
sharing and disseminating critical information on the state of the art,
experiences and initiatives that are evolving as alternatives to the present global
order. The scholarship is an invitation from CED to become partners or fellow
travelers in the journey for just and sustainable alternatives. Through this series
of scholarships, CED wishes to reach out to young activists, and concerned
students to promote re-thinking, analysis and approaches to the current issues
and concerns.
The main subject areas of interest are:
* Development, Alternatives and Social Transformation;
* Globalisation and Civil Society, Perspectives, Trends and Analysis of
issues effecting development and social change.
* NGOs. Peoples Movements and Political processes
* Labour, Gender, Environment, social violence, governance and
empowerment.
The Scholarship is not a research grant or a fellowship. It is primarily seen as
support to individuals who would like to take time off (from their routine
activities) and spend some time working on issues that are relevant and
important today.
This series of scholarship has been possible thanks to a grant through the Sir
Ratan Tata Trust. A committee consisting of R Singh, W Mendoza, R Bakshi
& J DSouza will determine the award of the scholarship.
If interested, send us a brief writeup along with the financial requirements and
time frame to CED. Mark the cover "OUTREACH SCHOLARSHIP". You can
also meet any of the committee members for a discussion and share your ideas.
