Dear Magda Aelvoet
All responsible, peace loving people of Nepal, especially those in Human
Rights groups and Civil Societies in Nepal are sorry to note that the guns
would ultimately come to Nepal. However, all appreciate your stand with
gratitude and hope. I hope that you will continue to take your stand for
peace, environment, social development with social justice, realistic
mediation and dialogue for the conflicts occurring in many countries like
Nepal. Guns will negate the rational approach for peace by contending root
causes of evils, injustice and disparity. We all are in solidarity with your
endeavor to rely in reason, common senses, peace and harmony with diversity.
Barrels of pen and organized voices of people will one day will certainly
overcome the gun-culture.

In Nepal, all human Rights organizations and civil societies without
exception and all ten major political parties except the break away faction
of Nepali Congress of Prime Minister Deuba. The Nepali Congress was voted to
power in the last general election and parliament which was dissolved by Mr.
Deuba. He did so after he was expelled by the party. Most dangerous factor
for democracy is the mockery of the election by such irrational actions.

With regards,

Mathura P. Shrestha.
President, Physicians for Social Responsibility Nepal (PSRN), and
President, People's Health Assembly, Nepal Committee.
