Dear All
Today from 4.30 to 5.30 PM about 500 human rights activists, lawyers,
physicians, engineers, writers, artists, environmentalists, and in fact from
all walks of social life protested with silent rally against the Emergency,
for cases fire, and for the start of dialogue for peace under Civil
Societies for Democracy - an alliance of civil societies, human rights
organizations and imminent personalities of Nepal. It was a great success.
The rally was more effective than the traditional protests. Following
slogans were displaced:
1. End to the State of Emergency; Reinstate Civil Rights.
2. End to the Civil War; Declare Ceasefire.
3. Initiate National Consensus; Start Dialogue between the Government and
the Maoists.
4. End the Interventions against Press; Fulfill the Demands of the Nepalese
Federation of the Journalists.
Regards,
Mathura P. Shrestha.
