Ik wil je solidariteit vragen om actie te voeren tegen de criminalisering van de Filippijnse bevrijdingsstrijd. Op 9 augustus plaatste Bush de Filippijnse Communistische Partij (CPP) en het Nieuwe Volksleger (NPA) op zijn "terroristenlijst". De VS vragen de Europese Unie hetzelfde te doen en repressieve maatregelen te nemen tegen progressieve Filipino's en hun steunbasis in Europa. Ik stel voor dat we met een email-petitie aan de Raad van Justitie en Binnenlandse Zaken van de Europese Unie - die over dat soort zaken beslist - eisen dat dit zaakje niet doorgaat. 

Ik werkte acht jaar als arts in de sloppenwijken van Manilla. Bij Geneeskunde voor het Volk in Schaarbeek (Brussell) zie ik nog dagelijks Filipino's. Ze werken hier als meid of kinderoppas, als kok of chauffeur, dikwijls zonder papieren en zonder rechten. Een groot deel van hun karig loon sturen ze naar hun familie. Armoede, uitbuiting en onrecht zijn daar dagelijkse kost. Maar er is ook een groeiende volksbeweging, die vecht voor een andere wereld. 

In de Filippijnen had ikzelf heel wat vrienden bij die beweging. Mensen die het beste van zichzelf geven in de strijd voor nationale bevrijding en democratie, die er hun leven voor op het spel zetten. Bush wil ons nu doen geloven dat dat allemaal terroristen zijn. 

Het toppunt van hypocrisie vind ik dat. Voor mij zijn de Verenigde Staten de échte terroristen. Ik kan er persoonlijk van meespreken. In 1985, toen ik als arts in een guerrillazone in El Salvador werkte, werd ik zwaar gewond bij een helikopteraanval van het Salvadoriaans leger. Dat was volledig opgeleid, bewapend en gestuurd door de VS. En wie gooit vandaag bommen op een huwelijksfeest in Afghanistan? Wie kondigt koudweg de volgende oorlog tegen Irak aan? Wie steunt en financiert Israël's terreur tegen de Palestijnen?

Samen kunnen we verhinderen dat de CPP en het NPA op de "terroristenlijst" van de Europese Unie komen. Stuur een mailtje naar Mw. Lene Espersen (jm at jm.dk) en Mr. Bertel Haarder (info at inm.dk),

de Deense ministers die dit halfjaar de Raad van Justitie en Binnenlandse Zaken van de Europese Unie voorzitten.

In bijlage een Engelstalige mail die, op een paar keer clicken met de muis en het invullen van je naam na, klaar is om te verzenden. (Ter info in bijlage ook een Nederlandstalige versie.) Dear,

May I invite you to join us in our action against the criminalisation of the Philippines liberation struggle. Last August 9, US President Bush added the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and the New People's Army(NPA) to the list of terrorist organisations. The US has requested the European Union to do the same and enact repressive measures against progressive Filipino's and their supporters in Europe. I propose that together, through this E-mail campaign, we demand from the Council of Justice and Home Affairs of the European Union not to push through with said measures. 

I have been a doctor in the squatter areas of Manila for some eight years. At present, as a doctor in Brussels with Medicine for the People, I daily have Filipino patients. They have a job as nanny or maid, as cook or driver, they are often undocumented and deprived of rights. A big chunk of their meager earnings is sent to their family in the Philippines. For the majority there, poverty, exploitation and injustice is daily fare. But there is also a growing people's movement, fighting for 'another world'.

In the Philippines I had several friends who belonged to that movement. Individuals who gave their utmost in the people's struggle for national liberation and democracy, even to the extent of putting their lives at stake. Bush now wants to make us believe that those are all terrrorists. 

This is sheer hypocrisy. The US is the real terrorist. I know wat I am talking about. In 1985, as a doctor active in a guerilla area in El Salvador, I had been seriously wounded after a helicopter attack of the Salvadoran Army. That was trained, armed and commanded by the US. And who bombed and strafed a marriage banquet in Afghanistan? Who announces without blinking the next war against Iraq? Who supports and finances Israel's terror against the Palestinians?

Together we can prevent that the CPP and NPA land on the list of "terrorist organisations" of the European Union. Mail to Mrs. Lene Espersen (jm at jm.dk) and Mr. Bertel Haarder (info at inm.dk),

the Danish ministers who preside the Council of Justice and Home Affairs of the European Union. May I ask to forward me a copy (ritaphilippines at hotmail.com, so that I can better keep track of our common campaign.

J'aimerais faire appel à votre solidarité pour mener une action contre la criminalisation de la lutte de libération philippine. Le 9 août, Bush a placé le Parti communiste des Philippines (CPP) et la Nouvelle armée populaire (NPA) sur sa «liste de terroristes». Les USA demandent à l'Union européenne de faire de même et de prendre des mesures répressives contre les progressistes philippins et leur base de soutien en Europe. Je propose d'adresser une pétition électronique au Conseil européen de la Justice et de l'Intérieur - qui décide en la matière - pour exiger que cela n'ait pas lieu. 

J'ai travaillé pendant huit ans comme médecin dans les bidonvilles de Manille. Aujourd'hui, à la maison médicale de Médecine pour le Peuple à Schaerbeek, je continue à soigner chaque jour des patients philippins. Ils travaillent ici comme domestiques, cuistots ou chauffeurs, souvent sans papiers et sans droits. Ils envoient une grosse partie de leur maigre salaire à leurs familles aux Philippines. Là-bas, la pauvreté, l'exploitation et l'injustice sont le lot quotidien. Mais il y existe aussi un mouvement grandissant qui se bat pour un autre monde. 

Aux Philippines, j'avais beaucoup d'amis dans ce mouvement. Des gens qui donnent le meilleur d'eux-mêmes dans la lutte populaire pour la libération nationale et la démocratie, qui risquent même leur vie pour cela. Bush voudrait maintenant nous faire croire que ce sont tous des terroristes. 

Je trouve que c'est le comble de l'hypocrisie. Pour moi, ce sont les Etats-Unis les véritables terroristes. J'en suis personnellement témoin. En 1985, je travaillais comme médecin dans une zone de guérilla au Salvador. J'ai été grièvement blessée lors d'une offensive héliportée de l'armée salvadorienne. Cette armée est complètement formée, équipée et dirigée par les USA. Et qui vient de bombarder une fête de mariage en Afghanistan? Qui annonce froidement la prochaine guerre contre l'Irak? Qui soutient et finance la terreur israélienne contre les Palestiniens?

Ensemble, nous pouvons empêcher que le CPP et la NPA soient placés sur la «liste des terroristes» de l'Union européenne. Envoyez un mail à Mme Lene Espersen (jm at jm.dk) et M. Bertel Haarder (info at inm.dk), les ministres danois qui président le Conseil européen de la Justice et de l'Intérieur durant ce semestre.

Vous trouverez ci-joint un mail (en Anglais) que, après avoir indiqué votre nom, vous pourrez envoyer moyennant quelques simples clics.
