Dear All

Fifty Human Rights activists, civil society leaders and top intellectuals of
Nepal gathered in the Conference Hall of Tamang Dhedung in Kathmandu to
interact on the unfortunate episode of dissolution of the parliament. After
intense and active interaction following appeal was issued. Please circulate
widely and become a part of the movement for the protection of democratic
rights and foil the plot of the forces of revivalists and reaction.. The
following text is the English translation of the original Nepali text. The
translation is from me.

With regards,

Mathura P. Shrestha.

An Appeal

At a time when all the nation, civil societies and political parties had
taken an univocal stand to discontinue the State of Emergency at any cost
with non-endorsement of it in the parliament for a further period of six
month, the Prime Minister of Nepal, playing a dummy pawn to the rightist
forces, dissolved the parliament just before its session was to begin. This
has pushed the country towards the chaos and retrogression. The step has
grossly violated and eroded the democratic values and rights enshrined by
the 1990 peoples' movement. We strongly condemn this event and demand the
re-invocation of the parliament immediately.

We appeal all the political parties and civil societies to remain united and
take a strong action against this reaction.
