Dear all,
Wemos published a briefing paper 'Poverty Reduction
Strategy Papers: what is at stake for health?', for civil society
organisations and health policy makers. It provides background
information on the potential impact of PRSPs on health and encourages
debate on health issues that need attention in the development and
implementation of PRSPs.
PRSPs offer both challenges and pitfalls for health improvement in low-
income countries. The strategies should be country-owned and
developed with civil society participation, linking poverty reduction to
structural and macro-economic policies. PRSPs are a condition for debt
relief and soft loans from the World Bank and IMF.
The paper can be downloaded at:

Season's greetings,
